Cooper Beagle Puppy - Tips to Stop a Beagle Puppy From Barking and Jumping at the Baby Gate

For this Omaha puppy training session we teach 7 month-old Beagle Cooper to calm himself down instead of jumping and barking at the baby gate.

Stopping a puppy from jumping on a baby gate comes down to two things; helping the puppy clam itself down by stopping petting or interacting with it the instant it starts to get excited and reengaging when the puppy is calm.

The best part of this trick to stopping a puppy from jumping up on the baby gate is the puppy learns on its own. The humans help by stopping and starting with precise timing, but since its the puppy’s behavior that determines engagement or avoidance, this type of operant conditioning works wonders. Shouldn’t take the humans long to train the puppy to stop jumping on the baby gate for attention.

We covered a number of other puppy behavior tips in this in home Omaha puppy training session, so we recorded a roadmap to success video that you can check out below.
