Buster - Teaching an Excited GoldenDoodle to Stop Jumping on Guests

For this Omaha in home dog training session we share the secret to stopping a dog from jumping up on guests to help 1 year-old Aussiedoodle Buster behave at the door.

I love teaching dogs to stop jumping on people this way as the dog figures it out themselves. This is much better than micromanaging the dog with a barrage of commands. With enough repetition the dog learns that sitting calmly is rewarded and jumping or getting excited causes the human to move away. Essentially you train the dog to stop jumping on people each time you answer your door.

Aussiedoodles love to jump up on people, so this is a wonderful exercise for everyone to do when visiting this home. Some guardians put up a sign asking people to call them before knocking on the door, but you can also pretend to be a guest yourself. Or you can use it as an excuse to call friends and neighbors to come visit. Stopping your dog from jumping on people is something all your house guests will appreciate.

I shared a number of other tips that don’t require formal Aussiedoodle dog training assistance to help the family with a few other problems I observed in this in home dog training session. To help them remember them all we recorded a roadmap to success video.
