Training a Pair of Dogs to Stay Out of the Kitchen

For this Omaha dog training session we teach 2 year-old Border Collie mix Holly and Shepherd mix Titas to stay behind an invisible line outside the kitchen when the family is eating.
Teaching a dog to stay out of the kitchen is all about good communication with precise timing. It usually takes a few practice sessions before the dog learns that you want them to stay out of the kitchen when you are cooking. If you train the dog to stay out of the kitchen one or more times every day for a week, the dog usually starts staying out of the kitchen on its own, or only needing a single command.
Best of all, you don’t have to be a professional Border Collie dog trainer to teach your dog to stay behind an invisible line. Simply repeat this same exercise at home and for various boundaries with this positive dog training approach.
To help the guardians remember all the other dog behavior suggestions we made in this in home dog training session, we shot a roadmap to success video.
