Wilbur - How to Teach a Dog to Stop Jumping Up on People

For this Omaha dog training session we were called in to train 4 year-old Jack Russell Terrier Wilbur to stop jumping up on guests who visit his home.

Many dogs jump up on people due to excitement and a very exciting time for most dogs is when someone knocks on the door. Knowing that Wilbur had a problem jumping up on people, I called ahead and gave the guardians a few instructions so I could share my secret way to stop any dog from jumping up on people.

Stopping dog jumping isnt that hard with this technique, it just needs a lot of repetition. If the guardian can arrange to have a guest come by once a day for the next few weeks, Wilbur will learn that sitting calmly when guests arrive is the best way to get them to pet him. And you dont have to be a professional Jack Russell Terrier dog trainer to do it.

We spent the rest of the session sharing tips to help stop Wilbur’s demand barking and a few other issues he had. The guardian mentioned he always wanted Wilbur to stop pulling on the leash so I suggested we set up a few in home training sessions with our lead trainer James to work on that.

To help the guardian remember all the dog behavior tips we shared in this in home dog behavior training session, we filmed a roadmap to success video that you can watch below.
