HayleyWatson - How to Add Rules and Structure to a Home with Two Big Dogs

In this Omaha dog training session we worked with a three-year-old Great Dane mix named Watson and a four-year-old Saint Bernard mix named Hayley to help give them rules and structure.

After I arrived I sat down to chat with Watson and Hayley’s guardians about their main dog behavior concerns. One of their primary concerns was that they had just moved in together and wanted to be on the same page about training their dogs. We went over different ways they could enforce rules and boundaries throughout the home and how to reward the dogs for good behavior. I also showed them our Leadership Exercise, which you can watch below.

As you can see in the video Watson picked up on this exercise quite quickly! To keep up with this good behavior the guardians will want to practice this exercise with both dogs each day.

By the end of the session the dogs were looking to their guardians for leadership and direction. They guardians will want to use the Escalating Consequences to disagree with the dogs and our Petting with a Purpose technqiue to reward them for good behavior. We wrapped up this session with Watson and Hayley’s Roadmap to Success video, which you can watch below.
