Dog Gone Problems small breed dog daycare is designed specifically for little dogs. We excel at provding a fun and safe daycare experience for dogs under 25 pounds like our friend, King Charles / Coton de Tuleur mix Shazbot.
Often when people get small breed dogs, they don’t realize that the little ones can have just as much energy as the big dogs. Some small breed dogs don’t like being left home alone. Other dogs just gots to play with puppy pals. But if you have a small breed dog, is daycare a safe option?
Well it is if you pick a daycare that puts the dog’s needs first. We do that daily, whether its building up dog manners by celebrating, the basic training we do with dogs every day or recognizing when a dog needs a break, some love or a nice game of fetch.
Shazbot is a former puppy mill dog which means that she had a rough time as a young puppy. Fortunately she has some pretty amazing humans looking out for her. They were concerned about taking her to daycare due to the high-volume nature of the Omaha facilities.
Other Omaha dog daycare’s pack 20 to 50 dogs into a room. We don’t think that’s right, whether you have a small breed or a large breed dog. And due to their small stature, people who have little dogs like Shazbot are naturally concerned about taking their precious little buddies to a dog daycare.
Omaha’s Small Breed Dog Daycare
To address this need, we opened an Omaha small breed dog daycare. We limit our room to 12 dogs maximum to make sure that we can give each individual dog the love and attention it needs.
The majority of our small breed dog owners tell us that we are the only daycare they would be considered because of our background of fixing dog behavior problems and rehabilitating fearful dogs. We consider that quite the honor.
We’ve been helping dogs with their behavior, manners and training since 2012. Our mandate is to “always be the dog’s advocate” and that’s something that we have brought with us into our new small breed dog daycare.
Instead of focusing on packing a room full of dogs, we spend our time and efforts on making each day as wonderful as possible for our small breed dog friends.
We call our small breed dog room Summerland. This room is dedicated to the little dogs, usually under 25 pounds. Having a small number of dogs and separating the dogs by breed size allows us to provide high-quality, safe dog daycare for the little buddies in your life.
Caring for little dogs is a little bit different than the big breeds. Due to their smaller stature, it’s important that playtime is supervised carefully so that the littlest dogs don’t get trampled or rolled over on.
Another thing that we’ve learned is that little dogs are used to being in people’s laps or held. Having less than a dozen dogs in the room gives our daycare attendance plenty of opportunities to pet, cuddle and love on your dog just like they get at home.
But of course, the best part of dog daycare is getting to play with the other doggies. We make sure that dogs are supervised 100% of the time when they are in our daycare and we give our clients video access so they can check in anytime they wish.
We have a number of toys and play equipment specifically designed for small breed dogs. Most of the dogs prefer to run and chase the other dogs in the room, but sometimes you just gotta get your chew on.
We also incorporate frequent breaks throughout the day to make sure that your dog is able to get the sleep that it needs. We work with every dog on kennel games each day they are in our daycare to make sure that the kennel is looked at as a positive.
We also work with all the dogs in our daycare on their manners, social skills and confidence. Our goal is that your dog comes home better each day that they spend with us.
Seeing Omaha small breed dog daycare friendships start and grow is one of our favorite things in life. Doesn’t matter if you have a Shih Tzu, Havanese, Caton de Tuleur or a mixed breed like Shazbot, small breed dogs have the best time in our daycare.
