Omaha in Home Puppy Training Session for Adorable Cavachon Puppy Olin

For this Omaha in home puppy training session, we did a Puppy Head Start session for 9 week-old Cavachon puppy Olin.

Olin had only been in his home for a short time when we has this puppy training session. His guardians were concerned that the puppy may pick up some of the nervous habits their adult dog has. The adult dog did not go to puppy classes and showed signs of insecurity and a strong fear response.

An overwhelming majority of adult dog behavior problems are a result of things that happen when the dog is a young puppy. There are many things that humans do accidentally that actually cause or greatly contribute to Dog behavior problems.

Our Puppy Headstart Program is designed to help educate new puppy parents so they can avoid these common mistakes. We share all kinds of puppy training tips and walk new puppy parents through them until they are getting the same results as our puppy trainer.

Olan was quite excited when we arrived for the session. He showed great confidence and curiosity which is what you should expect for a puppy of this age. We love it when we get to train a pup like this.

We introduced and loaded a marker word and explained to the guardians how this fundamental building block can accelerate their puppies learning and improve the communication between human and canine.

We went over how to teach puppy manners by celebrating, the importance of the critical socialization period and how to take advantage of it. We also went over how to properly socialize a puppy around new people, the benefits of setting up a long-term confinement area and a few other tips like feeding out of puzzles to burn energy and practice problem solving.

One of the other tips was how to potty train a puppy. Puppy potty training can be frustrating for some new puppy parents. But it doesnt have to be with the right positive puppy training technique. We always include puppy potty training in our in home puppy head start appointments.

We wrap things up by chatting for a few minutes and answering Olin’s parents questions. This in-home Omaha puppy training session only lasted an hour but that was enough for this nine week old puppy. He snuggled into our new trainer Juan’s lap and dreamed of chasing bunny rabbits

We’re looking forward to seeing Olin and his parents in our puppy classes when they start next month. Till then, we recommended the guardians focus on building his confidence by checking off 10 or more things on the critical socialization checklist every day.
