Nellie K Town Pitt - Teaching a Pitbull to Leave and Stay out of the Kitchen

For this Los Angeles dog training session, we teach 3 year-old Pittbull mix Nellie to leave the room and to stay out of the kitchen.

Teaching a dog to leave the room is really easy to do if you use the positive dog training technique included in the free dog training video above. It will take a little practice to train the dog to stay out of the kitchen when people are cooking or around other areas when people are eating. Training a dog to stay behind invisible boundaries is a super helpful command that Nellie’s guardian will use often.

Stopping a dog from coming into the kitchen is one of the more popular requests I get as one of LA’s dog behavior experts. Just like anything else, its all about how you communicate what you want in a way the dog understands, then motivating or rewarding a dog when it behaves how you want. You don’t have to specialize as a professional Pittbull dog trainer to do it.

I shared a number of other dog behavior tips in this LA in home dog training session. To help the guardian remember them all, we shot a roadmap to success video.
