For this Bellevue dog training session we do a little clicker training and share tips to stop a dog from rushing when people pass by the fence to help 4 year-old Terrier mix Kara.

We spent the first part of the session going over all of the things that may cause a dog to become territorial, touching on several topics;

To stop Kara from charging the fence when people walk by, I came up with a few different exercises. To help the guardians remember these tips to stop a dog from rushing the fence to bark at people we filmed a short positive dog behavior training video that you can watch below.

The secret to stopping a dog from acting aggressive when people walk by the fence is all about making it a positive situation for the dog. It also helps to teach the dog to listen and pay attention to its guardians in the location it normally acts out.

Although there are multiple steps to this program to stop a dog from acting territorially aggressive when people walk by, they are pretty easy. Considering Kara is part terrier, the barking at dogs passing by is park biology and park behavioral. But the great thing about this way of stopping a dog from acting aggressive at the fence is you don’t have to be a professional Terrier Dog Trainer to do it. ¬†After we filmed the above video, the guardian was able to get similar results. And this was with only a few minutes of practice!

Since the guardian and I were able to call Kara away from people passing or when she was barking at them so quickly, Im confident the guardians will be able to reduce and eventually stop this unwanted dog behavior for good.

To help the family remember all the positive dog behavior tips I shared in this in home Omaha dog training session, we recorded a roadmap to success summary video that you can watch below.
