Tips to Stop a Chihuahua Mix From Barking When People Knock on the Door

For this Omaha training session we work with Gypsy (left, a 10 year old Chihuahua mix), Atlas (middle, a 5 month-old German Shepherd mix) and Winter (2 year-old Husky), using counterconditioning to stop Gypsy from barking when people knock on the door.

Stopping a dog from barking when people knock at the door is a pretty popular request as Omaha’s resident dog behavior expert. I like to use a combination of desensitization and counterconditioning to stop dog barking and go over how to do so in the free positive dog training video below.
