If you are looking for Omaha dog training or Omaha puppy training, you’ve come to the right place.
We are a team of Dog Trainers and Dog Behaviorists in NE who have used positive dog training methods and dog psychology to solve thousands of dog problems in only one in home visit. This is why so many people tell their friends about Dog Gone Problems when they hear about someone with a .
It doesn’t matter if you are looking for dog or puppy training, need dog behavior modification or Omaha obedience training; a positive, reward-based approach is the only way we work.
We have worked with just about every dog problem out there; barking, jumping up, chewing, digging, puppy obedience, puppy potty training, puppy socialization, leash training, dog behavior training, therapy dog training, separation anxiety, resource guarding, kennel training, crate training, heel training, fearful dog, anxious dog, submissive urination, nervous dog, puppy classes, food aggression, dog aggression, blind dog, deaf dog, even three legged dogs. We are your basic do it all dog school!
Sam (In a dog behavior PhD program) coaches up a guardian in our puppy socialization class.
We solve these problems by creating a customized strategy for each dog we work with. Our in home dog training sessions start out by evaluating your dog where it feels the most comfortable, your home. We want to see how well your dog feels and performs in the easiest environment possible to identify why your dog is acting out or not responding. Once we identify the root cause, we know the right methodology and techniques to use.
Unfortunately, there are several dog trainers in the area who use the old, outdated, harsh, dominance or force based methods. Sometimes these dog trainers are referred to as a “balanced trainer.” They like to use methods to punish the dog for doing the wrong thing like alpha rolls or taking the dog’s breath away. These “trainers” get your dog to obey out of the use of force or punishment. This is why they use archaic tools like choke chains, shock collars and prong collars that cause your dog to obey out of a fear of pain.
Prong or pinch collars like this cause dogs pain, are banned in most countries and are tools we NEVER use.
Any dog behavior expert will tell you that dogs want to please their humans. If a dog wants to please you, the right approach is to teach it what you want, not use a tool that causes it pain if it doesn’t. We have never and will never use punishment based tools like the prong collar shown above. This is why the dogs we train love us as much as their humans do. This is also why dogs we work with behave all the time, not just when they are wearing a pain inducing collar.
We take pride in the fact that less than 1% of our clients need more than one visit to stop dog problems. One of our goals is to stop dogs from being surrendered to shelters like the Omaha Humane Society, Midlands Humane Society and Council Bluffs Humane Society.
We work directly with local rescue groups like Little White Dog Rescue, Muddy Paws, Hand Hearts and Paws as well as hundreds of dogs who have been placed through great rescues like Taysia Blue Dog Rescue.
After each dog training or dog behavior training session, we create a page for the client including videos of dog training we shoot while working with their dog. There are thousands of these write ups on our website. You can check them out by clicking the Dog Training Tips tab on the top of our website.
While the majority of what we do are in home dog training and at home dog behavior training, Dog Gone Problems’ founder David Codr started presenting Dog Behavior Workshops when he started getting more requests for help than he was able to provide by himself. In these workshops David shares some of the tips and secrets that have allowed him to rehabilitate thousands of misbehaving dogs in only one session.
Thousands of people have attended David Codr’s Talking Dog workshops (with frequent assists from Quest) across the country
David has also been writing a weekly dog behavior column for the Omaha World-Herald’s Momaha section for years, travels around the country fixing dog problems and is developing television show in Los Angeles where he helps rehabilitate abandoned dogs, making them adoptable into a forever home.

Although Dog Gone Problems was started by David as a one man shop nearly 10 years ago, our team has grown to five people as our reputation and referrals keep increasing demand.
Davis’s senior apprentice Sam is a little over a year away from becoming a PhD Dog Behaviorist and handles in home dog behavior and training session all over the area.
David and Sam met while David was rehabilitating a dog aggressive dog at an Omaha Farmer’s market. It didnt take long for David to see that Sam had a special talent for helping dogs, offering her an apprenticeship shortly thereafter. After training and shadowing with David for nearly a year, Sam started doing her own behavior and training sessions for Dog Gone Problems.
We are honored to have someone as skilled and accomplished as Sam to be a part of our team. Sam’s clients find her personal approach easy to understand and follow which is why she is mentioned in many of the 5 star reviews we have with Google.
