Beau (left) and Rosie want you to know that if you are looking for a safe Cocker Spaniel dog daycare in Omaha, your search is over. Dog Gone Problems low volume dog daycare club is a great option for anyone with a small breed dog.
Unlike most daycares that pack 20, 40 or more dogs in a single room, we separate dogs by size to make sure the play is safe. We also limit our rooms to a maximum of 12 dogs to make sure its not overwhelming.
We have a room dedicated exclusively for small breed dogs (under 25 lbs) that is a great options for; Havanese, Cocakapoo’s, Yorkies, Minisature Schnauzers and of course Cocker Spaniel dog daycare too.
Small breed dog daycare is different and requires a unique approach. While there isnt much of a difference between a 20 and 40 pound dog, the weight difference between a 5 and 10 pound dog is enormous. So even in our small breed dog daycare room, we sometimes set up separate areas so dogs who have the zoomies dont run over a little buddy just looking to stay out of the way.

Having dogs of a similar size is key to have safe and fun doggy daycare. Mini Labradoodle Cocoa Nutella is 24 lbs while Beau and Rosie are 22 and 21 pounds. This similarity is size helps the dogs feel more comfortable approaching the other small breed dog daycare member.
Beau and Rosie were in heaven playing with Cocoa on their first visit to our daycare. They were a little anxious when they first arrived, so we used our training lab to set up a private, small breed dog daycare playgroup. Since we limit our daycare to a maximum of 12 dogs in each room, we get to know all the dogs really well.
High volume dog daycares usually have so much going on they cant spot when a dog isnt having the best time. And none of them have the capacity to set up a private playgroup with a few dogs to help these Cocker Spaniels take the time needed to grow their confidence.
After we saw Beau and Rosie’s tails come up and their behavior made it clear they were relaxed and comfortable, we took them into our small breed playroom so they could cuddle and play with the other small breed dogs. Seeing dog confidence grow is one of our favorite things as we know we are making a quality of life difference that will last the dog’s lifetime.
At most daycares, there are so many dogs, the attendent does their best to just prevent any fights from breaking out. Crafting a personalized play experience isnt something they could even consider, let alone make happen.
At Dog Gone Problems Cocker Spaniel dog daycare, lol, our room attendent noticed that after a few mintes of group play, Beau was more interested in playing with a smaller number of dogs. So we cordoned off the room to make a play area just for those furry friends.
We also noticed that Rosie was really excited about the ball, but didnt want to share. So our daycare attendent set up another area for her to play ball unabated. Rosie had 3 balls and no competition for 30 minutes and you’d think it was a Cocker Spaniel Christmas miracle.
We also inspect and handle dogs each time they visit which allowed our room attendent to find that the groomer had been missing Rosie’s dew claw nail. It was so long it had started to curl back into her paw. Anyone familiar qwith Cocker Spaniels knows that their glorious overwised paws are super furry; hiding the dew claws from regular view.
We also work with the dogs on basic obedience training throughout the day. Dog training is a numbers game. The more often a dog is rewarded after an activity, the more likely they are to do it again. So we do kennel games, work on obedience training periodically throughout the day.
We also work on doggy manners by playing our celebrate game in daycare. This simple exercise is a wonderful way to promote good manners in dogs. By recognizing and always rewarding good manners when the dogs choose to offer them, we find that the good behavior extends outside of daycare.
By the end of their first visit, Beau and Rosie were tired, happy and knew they had a new fun place to call their own.
