Chloe and Clide - Tips to Stop a Pair of Dogs From Invading People's Personal Space

For this Omaha dog training session we teach 2 year-old Staffordshire Terrier Clyde to respect personal space around humans as well as his roomie, 8 year-old Pom-Chihuahua Chloe.

Stopping a dog from getting too close when you are eating is all about practicing effectively communicating you disagree the instant the dog breaks the boundary you want it to keep. As you saw in the free dog training video above, Clyde went every which way but loose (a shout out to all our Clint Eastwood fans). But because the guardian consistently disagreed each time he did, he eventually got the message and started respecting personal space.

As the humans practice establishing invisible boundaries, their technique will get better. So will Clyde’s response. I recommended using the baby’s snacks and staging practice sessions throughout the house to help the dog learn to give people some personal space when they ask.

To help the guardians remember all the other dog behavior tips I shared in this in home dog training session, we shot a roadmap to success video with my prescription for this high energy pitty.
