Raptor and Champ scaled - Stopping a Dog From Jumping on Guests When its Over Excited

For this Omaha dog training session we trained 2 year-old Lab mix Champion to stop jumping up on guests and shared tips to help 2 year-old Akita mix Raptor stop trying to dominate his roomie.

Knowing that Champion likes to jump up on guests who visit, I called ahead to give the guardian some instructions so I could share my secret to stopping any dog from jumping up on people. You can learn how to teach a dog to stop jumping on people by watching the free positive dog training video below.

Training a dog to stop jumping up on people this way is awesome because the dog learns on its own instead of the human micromanaging the dog. With practice, this tip to stop dog jumping works for life as the dog learns you are only interested in petting it when its calm and not jumping. Best of all, anyone can do this, even if you are not a professional Lab dog trainer.

There were some other issues at hand, specifically Raptor’s behavior towards Champ and his selective hearing. We shared a number of dog behavior tips that should help create a healthy leader follower dynamic while also motivating Raptor to want to listen to his humans.

To help the guardians remember all the positive dog training tips we covered in this in home Omaha dog training session, we recorded a roadmap to success video that you can check out below.
