Texas and Bohdi - Tips to Help an Older Dog Warm Up to the New Puppy

For this Omaha dog training session we help 7 year-old Morkie Texas feel better about his new roomie, 9 week-old Pomeranian Bohdi.

Puppies are super cute, but can be a handful at times for humans. Same thing can be the case with an older dog. Introducing a puppy to an older dog in a positive way is something I write about when I was raising my most recent puppy Quest.

There are a number of things you can do to help your adult dog like your new puppy. I share a number of tips to help your dog like your new puppy in the free puppy behavior and training video below.

Helping an adult dog warm up to a new puppy isnt all that uncommon. Especially if you get a particularly rowdy or high energy puppy. Bohdi is super cute, but probably falls into both those categories from time to time.

Because Bohdi is in our Puppy Socialization classes, I knew how much energy he had. When you bring a new puppy into a house with an older, lower energy dog, it sometimes can be a bumpy road. But by giving the adult dog some space, properly exercising the puppy, doing some fun things together and interceding when the puppy gets to be a bit much, the guardians should be able to help guide this pair into becoming life long pals.

To help them remember all the other tips we shared in this in home Omaha puppy training session, we filmed a roadmap to success video that you can check out below.
