Two Basic Obedience Dog Training Classes – Junior College

basic obedience dog training classes

Our basic obedience dog training classes are designed for dogs who were recently adopted, or who need some basic training. We call them Junior College classes and we developed them for people who didn’t get their dog young enough to enroll in our puppy socialization classes.

These basic obedience dog training classes meet for one hour, once a week, for 4 consecutive weeks on Thursdays. We have 2 levels of our Junior College classes, where we cover the most fundamental basic obedience lessons every dog should know.

As with all of our services, these basic obedience dog training classes exclusively utilize modern, positive dog training methods. We use these methods because they are humane, effective, they don’t require special equipment, and they motivate your dog to WANT to do what you ask.

We will show you how to unlock the amazing dog inside your furry friend by helping them understand why it’s rewarding for them to listen and obey. Dog training should be fun for you and for your dog. Positive dog training accomplishes this easily while it also boosts your dog’s confidence. Another benefit is it increases your dog’s respect for you. That will strengthen the bond between you and your dog and increase their obedience dramatically.

We like to say we teach people to train dogs. We pride ourseleves on coaching people up on the positive dog training tips and secrets we use so they can take over and replace us. We are always here when you need us, but after completing these two classes, you will have all the tools that you need to teach and train your dog on your own.

Basic Obedience Dog Training Classes

In 2016, we created our own puppy classes and have had over 10,000 puppies graduate from our program. These Junior College basic obedience dog training classes are really the “best of” our highly successful puppy classes. We use the same demonstration coaching class method to help you and your dog see immediate results.

By breaking things down into small, easy to understand steps, we make positive dog training fun and easy. We love watching peoples’ excitement grow when they see how easy it is to get their dog to listen. But our favorite thing is when the dogs start to figure the lesson out. We geek out on helping people with their dogs.

We have 2 basic obedience dog training classes that cover the lessons every dog should know.

Each class meets for one hour, once a week, for 4 consecutive weeks on Thursdays, and the two classes are designed to be taken one after the other.

Junior College One (4 weeks on Thursdays) – $200

This entry level class starts with the basic fundamentals to positive dog training. We will share the secret to get your dog to sit for attention versus jumping up on you. We also go over dog training hacks to help you get results faster.

  • Marker words
  • Recall (come on cue)
  • Hand targeting
  • Crate training

  • Introduction to scent games
  • Teaching dog manners with the Celebrate game

Junior College Two (4 weeks on Thursdays) – $200

This class starts building on the basic positive dog training fundamentals we introduced in Junior College One. With the basics in place, we turn our attention to more advanced / impulse control lessons like Stay, Leave it and It’s Yer Choice.

  • Leave it
  • Back up out of your way on cue
  • Stay for distractions, durations, and distance

  • How to teach dog manners
  • Hurricane (Spin trick)
  • How to read your dog’s body language

We limit each class to a maximum of 4 dogs to give you more one-on-one coaching on the positive dog training secrets and exercises we use. Dogs who enroll in both classes together receive a $20 discount.
